Notes & Reviews:
This 2-CD set of recordings by the famous Danish violinist Endre Wolf displays his hallmark traits: a sense of rhythm and timing and unforced natural sound production. These recordings were made between 1949 and 1951.
American Record Guide, January/February 2013
Endre Wolf (1913-2011) was a Hungarian violinist who spent much of his life in Scandinavia. This set purports to collect the complete Danish TONO recordings from 1949 to 1951. They are divided between concertos (Tchaikovsky, Mozart 5, Bruch 1), sonatas (Beethoven 5 and 9), short pieces with piano, and a movement of solo Bach. Wolf has a solid technique and is a sensible if not individual interpreter. There are no disappointments here.
