Notes & Reviews:

Concertos for trumpet and organ enjoy considerable popularity, whether recordings or live performances. The present recording, made in St. Thomas Church, Leipzig, features chorale settings of the type long favored by German organists. In addition, for the sheer sake of showing off the beauty of sound of the trumpet, two showpieces are included; the arrangement of the brilliant Telemann 'Concerto' and the exciting, colorful 'Musik' by Siegfried Thiele. Ludwig Guttler's prowess on both the trumpet and the corno da caccia have made him one of the most successful virtuosos of our time.
