Album Summary
Performer
Béatrice Berg (Piano)
Notes & Reviews:
Gunnar Berg was the first Danish composer to write a serial piece (Suite for Cello, 1950). This collection is not only an impressive overview of Berg's music but reveals a charming love story. In 1951 his Sonata was performed by pianist Beatrice Duffour (1921-1976) and the acquaintance between composer and performer resulted in marriage in 1952. Their lives together were not unlike a modern-day Robert and Clara Schumann, and Beatrice Berg would become a tireless champion of her husband's music.
