Album Remarks & Appraisals:

There are those who would have us believe that congregational hymn singing is in terminal decline, a moribund reminder of an earlier age. Such a view seems to fly in the face of the facts. Prime-time television programs in Great Britain such as 'Songs of Praise' testify to the enduring popularity of hymns and hymn singing. New hymns continue to proliferate and new hymnbooks appear with remarkable frequency. Many of the traditional hymns still figure prominently in periodic surveys of the nation's favorite hymns. We have now reached volume 20, and this latest edition is an indispensable disc for all who love great liturgical singing.
