The DePaul University Wind Ensemble, with its marvelous virtuosity and highly original and exciting programming, is joined by John Hagstrom, leader of the DePaul trumpet studio. A member of Chicago Symphony's trumpet section and graduate of Eastman School, Hagstrom spent six years in "The President's Own" US Marine Band. All of these pieces have a wonderful way of showing off the terrific musical combination of trumpet and wind orchestra, with such highlights as the propulsive Concerto by Russian composer Andrei Petrov. The highly famous Arutiunian's Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra, is a model piece for any performer or follower of symphonic winds.
