Music from France - Dukas, Franck, Ravel / Jordania, et al

Notes & Reviews:

The music world lost a unique conductor with the death last year of Vakhtang Jordania. Born in 1942 in the Republic of Georgia in the former Soviet Union, he studied at the Leningrad Conservatory and vaulted to fame when he was awarded a top prize at the Herbert von Karajan Competition. His many recordings feature exceptional performances of Shostakovich, contemporary European composers and, as demonstrated with this new release, an ability to infuse new life into some classics of the French repertoire.
