Notes & Reviews:

Sergio Fiorentino's Rachmaninov 'Preludes' were recorded in 1963 for Concert Artist Recordings and issued on that label and a variety of others from the same stable through the 1960's. As these were poorly promoted budget labels, few at the time became aware of what a great talent Fiorentino was. It is only with hindsight that we realize what a tragedy it was that he did not receive the acclaim due during his lifetime. His playing is characterized by an effortless and aristocratic virtuosity, wonderful pianistic color and a natural singing line. Jacques Thibaud was the pre-eminent French violinist on the first half of the 20th century. This 2 CD set features a selection of his electrical recordings of music for violin and piano. Thibaud's great strength was his cantabile playing and much is in evidence in this delightful collection.

Notes & Reviews:

Includes work(s) for violin & piano: sicilienne by Domenico Paradies.
