Notes & Reviews:

"The Westwood's stellar history proves it to be one of those ensembles that have always put integrity of interpretation above all else. Their performances are ripe with considered achievement, and even if you disagree with what they are presenting, their arguments are always cogent, well-thought out, and musically defensible. The Reicha quintets are deep and vast enough to survive a number of interpretations, and the Westwood's, while different from the Schweitzer, are every bit as convincing. I had a definite problem with the sound on the first release. As mentioned before, woodwind quintets are devilishly difficult to record properly, and the first release was simply too dry. I am happy to report that this has been greatly improved; there is more ambience around each instrument, they breathe better, and the tonal qualities are more alive. The change is quite noticeable when comparing the two. This is starting to shape up nicely-bring on the others!" -ARG
