Focusing on the life and work of William Byrd, the music on this SACD was recorded during filming of performances by The Tallis Scholars for a BBC documentary on the composer. The disc features over an hour of sacred music by Elizabeth I's favorite composer, performed in the beautiful acoustics of Tewkesbury Abbey and recorded in genuine surround sound. Works include the 'Mass for 4 Voices' and 'Ave verum corpus.'
