Notes & Reviews:
The recorder sonatas of Loeillet are clearly based on the structure of the Italian sonata da chiesa, but they are in most cases further developed, with some additional movements that betray a French influence. An example of this is provided by the second Allegro of Sonata op. 4, No. 3, where the folk-like melody line is underpinned by a fluid basso continuo.
