Valeri: Concerti per organo e Sinfonie / Ammetto, Scandali

Remarks:

Gaetano Valeri (ca. 1760-1822) was a cathedral organist and master of music, as well as an exceptional pianist in the earliest days of the instrument. A little-known aspect of Valeri's musical production, and one still to be studied, is represented by his Sinfonie, the parts of which are extant in manuscript. Valeri used the term "sinfonia" to indicate his instrumental compositions written in a single movement, or occasionally in two with a repetition of the first, utilizing the form that he most favored in his keyboard sonatas. Valeri's Sinfonie commonly present a division into two parts, recalling the dance forms of the baroque suite.
