Notes & Reviews:

It is certainly one of the most tragic aspects of Polish history that the greatest attainments of Polish culture came about in exile or while under foreign rule. For over 100 years, the partition of Poland hindered the establishment of a Polish national culture. Then, during the Second World War, artists, like all other members of the so-called intelligentsia, were the preferred targets of the German extermination process and the Soviet occupation policy. The long history of Polish exile has left its traces in European art and, conversely, today's unimpeded Polish culture has breathed in the spirit of Europe through its greatest expatriate sons and daughters. This recording documents a concert by the present forces focusing on "musical currents" between Poland, Germany and France.
