By the age of fourteen, Luigi Boccherini (1743-1805) was already known as a great cello virtuoso in Vienna. Later, he became a member of Europe's first string quartet. He composed an enormous number of works, few remarkable for great genius or depth, but all renowned for melodiousness and charm. This CD offers characteristic works for pleasurable listening, played in authentic historic style.
