Notes & Reviews:
Demondrae Thurman is one of the stars of a formidable generation of brass soloists. Full of passion, heart, and soul, Songs of a Wayfarer pays homage to some of the songs that have influenced Thurman’s playing over the years. He has a firm international reputation as a euphonium soloist, having performed throughout Europe and North America. An active chamber musician, he plays first euphonium and trombone in the highly regarded Sotto Voce Quartet, which tours extensively.
Martha Fischer is associate professor of piano and heads the collaborative piano program at the University of Wisconsin–Madison School of Music. A sought-after accompanist and chamber musician, she has performed throughout the US and Europe. In a review of Fischer’s recording with trombonist Mark Hetzler, American Voices II, the American Record Guide wrote: “At least half of the credit for these superb readings must go to her, for she is a marvelous pianist, profound interpreter, and expert collaborator.”
“Amiable and attractive music played fabulously.” -Classics Today
