Notes & Reviews:

Stefan Sanderling, born in 1964, became General Music Director of the Brandenburgische Philharmonie and the Potsdam Opera in 1990, making him one of the youngest conductors to be appointed to such a responsible position. Receiving his early artistic inspiration from his parents, noted conductor Kurt Sanderling and the double-bass player Barbara Sanderling, Stefan studied at the Leipzig Conservatory under the watchful eye of Kurt Maser, going on to assist in Hallé and at the Komische Oper Berlin. During this time he graduated in Musical Science. His conducting career started with the Tanglewood Music Centre Orchestra, at Tanglewood Summer Music Festival, which enabled him to work with such eminent names as Bernstein, Ozawa, Slatkin, and Temirkanov.
