Notes & Reviews:

For his grand romantic opera Die Feen, Wagner reflected not only on the audible influences of Weber, Mendelssohn, Mozart, and Gluck - but also on much older predecessors, both musical and thematic. He traveled to antiquity to locate his subject, the famed Orpheus. Oehms Classics is pleased to present a live recording of this early opera from Alte Oper Frankfurt.
