2000's Times Squared: Live from New York highlights 14 tracks, including the funk band's pop hits of the '70s. To their credit, AWB aren't just re-creating well-known songs and sidestepping any spontaneity that comes from a live performance. Their improvisational chops are evident on "I Just Can't Give You Up," "Put It Where You Want It," and "Oh, Maceo." Unfortunately the hit "Cut the Cake" does not appear on this disc, however, AWB begin and end the concert with their number one hit from 1974 "Pick Up the Pieces." This performance should fit the playlist of either the die-hard fan or listeners who just want a fun Saturday night party disc. ~ Al Campbell
