Notes & Reviews:

Orchestrations and originals from around the world, from Bach to Bernstein, as well as Alfred Reed's colorful Armenian Dances and Taiwanese composer Chia-Ying Chiang's mysterious and beautiful recent composition A Chasing after the Wind.

American Record Guide, July/August 2013
The release from the University of South Florida Wind Ensemble consists of concert recordings from three halls over three years, so the readings vary in sound and quality. Quality varies in the ensemble. I enjoy Andrew Rindfleisch's kaleidoscopic Mr Atlas (2006) and both of the pieces by Scott McAllister: the contemplative Love Songs (2010) and the three very contrasting movements of Popcopy (2008) - the wacky 'More Cowbell!', the dreamy 'One Time at Band Camp', and the 'Serenity Now!' with its references to famous band pieces.
