Album Summary

>Mozart, Wolfgang Amadeus : Quintet for Clarinet and Strings in A major, K 581
>Mozart, Wolfgang Amadeus : Quartet for Strings no 15 in D minor, K 421 (417b)
Performer Ensemble Composer

Notes & Reviews:

We owe these two masterpieces to the musical friendships Mozart made during his years in Vienna. The celestial beauties of the Clarinet Quintet were tailor-made for the great Anton Stadler, while the D minor String Quartet K421, more severe in tone, is one of six Mozart dedicated to his 'caro amico' Joseph Haydn. This recording, which pairs clarinetist Jörg Widmann with the Arcanto Quartett, shows these artists' affinity with the Mozartian repertoire.
