Notes & Reviews:

Composed in 1850, Anton Rubinstein's First Symphony is a highly cosmopolitan work, showing the influence of Mendelssohn. The symphony contains a wealth of memorable tunes, with vivid orchestral colors and dynamic rhythms. This recording was originally released on Marco Polo (now deleted) at twice the price. It is now the only available version in the catalog. No reason to wait, however. This is a thrilling performance of a most enjoyable, Romantic symphony.
