Notes & Reviews:
Fabio Luisi leads the MDR Symphony Orchestra Leipzig in the fourth and last symphony by Austrian composer Franz Schmidt, whose conservative post-Wagnerian Romantic style reflected the influence of his teacher Anton Bruckner.
Schmidt's most personal work, the Fourth Symphony was a kind of Requiem for his daughter Emma, who had died in 1932 during the birth of her son.
