Imamura plays on a baroque lute made by Cezar Mateus in 2007 for this recording. Born in Osaka, Mr. Imamura studied at the Schola Cantorum in Basel. He is recognized as one of the prominent figures of the lute, both as a leading soloist and a continuo-player. He is professor of lute at the Conservatoire National de Region de Strasbourg. He regularly gives master classes in Europe and the Far East. His Vol. 1 of Lute Sonatas by Weiss on the Claves label was awarded the Diapason d'Or in 2006.

Reviews

Phantastic Playing
What a virtuoso playing, what a clean and dynamic playing! Sings well. There are articulations on the melody but also on the basses, which is rather unusual on the lute. Phantastic Playing!
